When a year ends, I think it is worth stopping for a moment and analysing everything done in each area of our business. It helps us put into perspective whether the resources invested paid off and were worth it.
In this case, I am going to review what the blog delivered in 2024.

The goals
Before getting into the review itself, let me give you some context: as 2023 was ending and I was setting my goals for 2024, one of the challenges was to be consistent and write one article a week.
There are four reasons:
The first is that I write to attract traffic to the website, because without traffic there are no subscribers or customers.
Some people prefer social media. Or advertising. I’ve always liked SEO and inbound marketing, and a blog fits that approach perfectly. In fact, I struggle to think of a better format: maybe a podcast or a YouTube channel, buuuut…
And that connects to the second reason: I like consuming written content. Much more than video or audio.
When I look for something, I rarely start by watching a video with the answer. I search on Google or ChatGPT and read.
Even though the internet is clearly shifting towards video, I believe there are still people like me, so I chose this format. Besides, it is easier to edit.
The third point is that writing an article forces you both to structure your ideas (linking everything in your head in an orderly way) and to learn certain aspects of the subject that you did not know — such as alternatives and examples.
Put the two together and you deepen your knowledge of the subject.
Lastly, you build / demonstrate your authority on the subject you write about.
And this, combined with attracting traffic, results in new customers.
In this regard, I know for certain that three new customers discovered me through the blog in 2024. Together they generated almost €10,000 in revenue.
On top of that, another fairly major company looks likely to start working with me after the holidays. And, provided I do things reasonably well, it will not be a small project.
These figures are 100% attributable to the blog.
In other words, they are customers who arrived through a specific article and then hired my services.
They do not include subscribers or customers who regularly read my articles and, as a result, decide to hire me or buy something from me. If we included them, the figure would rise, but I have not actually calculated it.
And those are the reasons why I write on the blog every week.
The numbers
Getting into the review, I wrote 50 articles this year. In other words, one a week, except for two weeks when, for some reason I cannot remember, I did not.
Good. Consistent.
And it was hard, honestly.
Given that it takes me between four and eight hours to write an article, finding the time was difficult during the busiest weeks.
Even so, it was one of my goals for the year and, in any project, when we set a goal I try to achieve it. In this case it was easier than others because it depended only on me.
And achieving it was just a matter of doing the work.
As for the content itself, classified by its main category, I published:
- 23 articles on business analytics. That makes sense, given the upheaval caused in this field by the move from Universal Analytics to GA4 halfway through the year.
- 13 articles on tools. Artificial intelligence was, naturally, the star. Once again, we are facing a disruptive change that will reshape the world just as the arrival of the internet did.
- 6 articles on digital business. Perhaps the most theoretical pieces, unlike the others, which are usually tutorials or have a more practical focus.
- 5 marketing articles. That seems low to me, honestly, considering this is what I do. But I suppose GA4 and the possibilities of AI stole some of the spotlight from the subject.
- 3 on ecommerce. I could say the same as with marketing, but ecommerce was the star topic in 2023, so I had already written much of what I had to say before 2024.
Top articles by category (most viewed)
Here are the top articles in each category according to the visits recorded in GA4.
I am limiting this to articles published in 2024, otherwise certain evergreen posts from previous years would slip into the most-viewed list:
- Analytics: : Consent mode: what it is and how to use it.
- Tools: : How to get more space in Gmail.
- Digital business: : What Microsoft Clarity is and how to integrate it with GA4.
- Marketing: : Email marketing guide for ecommerce.
- Ecommerce: : Ecommerce trends for 2025 (and a few other things).
The number of visits to these articles is directly related to their SEO rankings. So, if you are short on time, I recommend looking at the next section first.
My personal top picks
Because, although the previous ones are good, these are the articles I enjoyed most and the ones I believe provide the most value.
So, in your place, I would read these first:
- Guide to using GA4 legally in Spain without a cookie banner.
- What an ecommerce consultancy involves and covers.
- Effects of consent mode on Google Analytics.
- How to create a video advert with AI as quickly as possible.
- AI-powered invoice automation.
They are not listed in any particular order; they are simply articles whose content would be difficult to find online.
And even less so for free.
Plans for 2025
This year I have decided to go all in on YouTube.
I think that, even though I prefer written articles, the statistics do not lie and many people prefer watching videos.
So I am going to get started with my channel.
Before deciding to create a set number of videos, I want to see how long the full process takes me, because there are two routes:
- Create videos based on articles already published on the blog.
- Create articles with video from scratch.
And I need to measure the time required for both.
I will also certainly combine this type of content with text-only articles.
Once I start producing them and have some history, it will be easier to set a specific number because, right now, one video-and-text article a week feels difficult to picture.
On the other hand, when it comes to content, I think the star topic will be automation combined with AI.
Right now, that is what interests me most and the direction I think I will take. Probably combined with more business articles.
And with that said, I want to ask you something: I would like to know your opinion of the articles.
Do you read them?
Are they useful to you?
Would you add or remove any topics?
What would you change?
You can leave a comment below or email me at hola@yagogonzalez.com.
And with that, all that remains is to wish you a fantastic 2025.
See you in the next article.
