How to create a Spotify playlist automatically and super quickly

Have you ever found an amazing list of songs on a forum, in an article or in a ChatGPT conversation and thought how ideal it would be to have it on   Spotify?

But of course, then comes the second thought: what a pain it is to look them up one by one.

I'm sure I'm not the only one this has happened to…

Because having the list is great, but looking up the songs one by one is a pain:

1. Copy the title of a song.
2. Open Spotify.
3. Create the list.
4. Paste the title. 
5. Add it to the list
6. And repeat the process 20 or 30 times.

The definition of tedious. 

That is why, the last time it happened to me, I decided to look for a way to do it easily. And in this tutorial I show it to you.  

So you can turn any text list into a Spotify playlist in under two minutes, directly from your mobile or PC browser and without installing any kind of app.

Because there are free web tools like Spotlistr or TuneMyMusic that do the dirty work for you: they read a text, search for the songs in Spotify’s database and create the list in your account instantly.

To illustrate the process, I will use the real list I built it with: a selection of the 26 best electronic and techno songs in film history, including soundtracks such as Blade Runner, Matrix, Drive or Trainspotting.

The step-by-step process

Let's get to it, because it is quick.

Step 0 (beforehand): have the song list

You may have the song list because you pulled it from a Reddit thread. Or from any blog or social network.

Or you may have nothing more than an idea, in which case one idea I suggest is that you explain to the AI what you are looking for in the playlist and let it, with its unbeatable knowledge library, suggest it to you.

In this case, I did it that way with Gemini.

Either way, for this tutorial you must have your song list.

Step 1: prepare and clean the text

Once you have the list, you should know that conversion tools work better when the text is clean. 

That is why the ideal thing is to use the standard format: Artist – Song title, avoiding heavy links or unnecessary comments.

For this tutorial, we will use this list of electronic music gems in cinema:

If you do not have a similar format, pass your list to any AI, copy the one above and ask it to format yours the same way.

Step 2: use the web tool

For this example we will use Spotlistr, one of the cleanest, fastest options without invasive advertising.

1. Open the browser on your mobile or PC and go to the Spotlistr option: Textbox to Spotify.
2. Click the button to log in or create an account (email is fine) and link it to your Spotify account, so the website can add the playlist to your library (it is a completely safe and standard process).
3. Find the large text box on the screen and paste the song list you just copied in Step 1.
4. Click the "Search" button.

Step 3: Verify and save to your library

The website will process the list in a couple of seconds.

• You will see a screen where the tool shows you which song it has found for each line of text.
• If there is a song with several versions (for example, a radio edit and an extended version), you will be able to choose the one you prefer.
• Finally, type the name you want to give your new playlist (for example: "Electronic & Techno OST", which is mine) and click "Create Playlist“.

And done. Open your Spotify app on Android, iOS or the web and you will see your new list with the 26 songs ready to play.

Well, and remember that once you have created it, you can download your playlist for free on your PC or mobile if you prefer to listen to it that way.
