You probably know how to check your website's most viewed pages in Analytics.
You may even know how to see the least viewed ones.
But what you may not know how to find are those that haven't been viewed.
Not the ones that get few views. The ones that haven't been viewed at all.
The ones that get no traffic.
That's a bit trickier, right?
And you want to know which ones they are.
Especially if you're working on a content or SEO plan, because even if you know what is working, knowing what isn't is valuable information for optimizing your website. You know:
- Improve the on-page SEO of these pages.
- Improve the content.
- Improve internal linking.
- Analyze the topics on your website that Google doesn't like.
- …
I think the usefulness is pretty clear.
So in this short, quick article I'll show you how to find those pages that get no traffic.
And it's much easier than you think.
The process
#1. Open the GA4 Admin section:
#2. Go to Data streams:
#3. Select the right web data stream (the one whose no-traffic pages you want to find):
#4. Open Google's “Tag settings”:
#5. Click the “Admin” tab:
#6. Open “Tag coverage”:
#7. Look at the pages under “No recent activity”:
These pages have received no traffic in the last 30 days.
What to do with this information
Well, it's actually more accurate to say that those pages haven't loaded the GA4 tag in the last 30 days.
Because they may have received traffic but GA4 isn't recording it.
So the first thing to check is whether those URLs have Google Analytics implemented and whether it loads correctly when you open the page.
If they do, then it isn't a technical problem but another kind of issue.
So now you need to think about how important each of those URLs is and analyze whether it's worth making any adjustments (SEO, UX, promoting them on social media or in your newsletter) so they start getting traffic.
